About My Stone & Fire - Celtic Stelas - The Celtic Stelas are monolithic sculptural elements, or stone markers, denoting entrance, exit, place. The Celtic patterning relates to life cycles – the triple spiral of birth, life and death. The hieroglyphs that wrap the corners relate to the essence and flow of nature and the natural world. Some Celtic Stelas are cored for fire to invite another level of celebration of garden art. The idea of combining stone and fire is a powerful juxtaposition evoking the beauty and energy of ancient inspiration in modern life. ~ Karin Stanley
A ‘Celtic Stela’ is a stone monolith ranging from 3-12’ high and used as a land marker artfully placed in the garden or landscape as a marker for celebration , a milestone, a memory - Infused with the ancient Megalithic hieroglphs combining the elements and story. I like to shape and play with Stone and create powerful and evocative and gentle work. Music is a major part of the process. Any commissioned piece I ask for a personal playlist so when I work I am thinking deeply with intent and mindful harmony with the sculpture .
